PREPARATION TOWARDS THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

STEP ONE - FIND THE TRUTH (THE WORD OF GOD)

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-4

Who wrote the Bible, and how do I know if it really came from God?
God gave the words that are in the Bible by working in the minds of his chosen writers. Then these men wrote down what he wanted.
The Bible contains 66 books writen by 40 authors at various points in history. Many of the books are actually letters.
If you know a mathematician, ask him or her the probability of 66 separate documents wriiten over a period of 1500 years by 40 different authors, not having any contradictions. He'd have concluded what you've decscribe is mathematically impossible.Yet that is what God did as he wrote and arrange the Bible.
The theme, the history, the way it describes God's way of bringing salvation to people, are consistent throughout.
More important than how we got the Bible is why. God gave the Bible to us to prepare us for anything to help us do good to everyone.
God's Word also serves as our offensive weapon against all the problems we encounter. "For the word of God is living and powerful , and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of the soul and spirit,.. and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart" (Hebrew 4:12).
God is the business of molding our character and strengthening us for future use. He's given us all of the resources for strength we'll ever need, in the Bible.

God's Word
We read in the Bible (Jeremiah 36:27-32) that God told Jeremiah, one of the 40 authors of the Bible to write his words on a scroll. Because he was not allowed to go to the temple, Jeremiah asked his scribe , Baruch, to whom he had dictated the message, to read the scroll to the people gathered there. Baruch then read it to the officials , and finally Jehudi read it to the king himself. Although the king burned the scroll, he could not destroy God's Word. Today many people try to put God's Word aside or say that it contains errors and caanot be trusted. People may reject God's word, but they caanot destroy it. God's word will stand forever(Psalm 119:89)
The Answer
We read in the Bible(Amos 8:11-13) that the people had no appetite for God's word when preachers like Amos brought it. Beacuse of their apathy, God said he would take away even the opportunity to hear his word. We have God's Word, the Bible, but many people still look everywhere for the answers to life's problemsexcept in scripture. You can help them by directing them to the Bible, showing them the parts that speak of their special needs and questions. God's Word available to us. Let us help people know it before a time comes when they cannot find it.
The Sweet Medicine
Faith comes alive at the point where we apply Scripture to our life. Like the psalmist (Ps 119:125), we need to apply Scripture where we need help. The Bible is similar to medicine-it goes to work only when you put it on the infected areas. As you read the Bible, be on the alert for lessons, commands, or examples that you can apply to situations in your life. Read Rev. 10:9.
Apply It
We read in the Bible(Nehemiah 8:1-5) that the people paid close attention to Ezra as he read God's Word,and their lives were changed. Because we hear the Bible so often, we can become dulled to its words and immune to itesteachings. Instead we should listen carefully to every verse and ask the Holy Sprirt to help us answer the question, "How does this apply to my life"
